A Year-end Gift from Jusuf Randy

Have you read one of short stories entitled My Name is Peter from my recent published book, Exploring My Ideas? This short story is inspired by the interesting life story of Jusuf Randy, a famous Indonesian that I know him through virtual world.

EXPLORING MY IDEAS: A Review by Janelle Alex Ph.D. from Readers' Favorite

Reviewed by Janelle Alex, Ph.D. from Readers’ Favorite

Exploring My Ideas: Ten Short Stories Followed by the Author's Shared Ideas with a Simple and Practical Guide How to Explore and Compose Ideas into Short Stories is exactly what it claims to be - a compilation of short stories created by Fida Abbott, as well as her explanation of how people can think critically and write their own stories. Abbott starts off by sharing a bit of her personal story around writing the stories before sharing the actual stories themselves. Interestingly enough, each of the ten stories has a “story behind the short story above” section at the end of each tale. The overall concept of Exploring My Ideas is unique.

As each story is quite short and easy to read, Fida Abbott offers a number of fun, quick reads to enjoy from an entertainment perspective and as examples of how readers can follow her methodology and write their own stories based on their personal experiences. A drawback of Exploring My Ideas might be that it’s only five chapters long. The chapters jump from the introduction to an entire chapter with all of the stories and the final chapter being the guide to publish one’s own stories. However, the concept is excellent. The guide in chapters three through five is more like a mini-workbook to help readers and Abbott even uses one of her stories as an example of how to use her questions and guide. Fida Abbott’s Exploring My Ideas could be a great little book for inexperienced young writers. Good effort.(*)

A NEW PUBLISHED BOOK: Short Stories Anthology in Indonesian

Stories that are born in a society arise from the subconscious of the authors. In simple form, stories are the actualization of their hopes, ideals, dreams, and communities. A work that meets expectations will involve independence, depth of appreciation, and maturity of cultivation.

This book contains eleven short stories written by writers who grew up in certain religious traditions. The short stories are the choices of Litera Magazine. Are the eleven works presented meet expectations as mentioned or just an exploitative game from the authors? Before you answer, please read this book, then review it.

This book is written by ten well-known authors: Bayu Probo, Fida Abbott, Gayatri W.M., Gerson Poyk, Iksaka Banu, Ita Siregar, Jeli Manulu, Liston P. Siregar, Purnawan Kristanto, Sanie B. Kuncoro.

Rahel Pergi ke Surga Sendiri (Rahel Goes to Heaven by Herself) is published by PT. Duta Ministri and Litera Magazine, January 2018; 115 pages.

My Upcoming Book

I planned to publish my next book early this year. Because of my health problem and other unexpected happened, I had to postpone it. Also due to a new duty I have to asses a superior class student of defense language for Bahasa Indonesia, it seems I have to postpone the publication for upcoming year. My goal: New Year, New Published Book!

So, what my next book would be? I'm sure you really want to know. I will give a sneak peek of it. The Foreword is written by Dean Emeritus of Cheyney University of Pennsylvania. It's reviewed by a well known writer/author in Indonesia and in the USA, and a well known artist in Canada. From my book, I will bring my readers' imaginations come to the real life. They would think, learn, practice, and be entertained by short stories in psychology, crime, relationship, family, horror, and others. It's not only those, but other several things that make this book special. What are those? I won't tell you this time. You should be patient and wait until the right time comes.

By the way, I always try to find a fresh idea in every book I will publish. My book will be simple but enjoyable and educational. So, please stay tuned! To follow the updated news, you should subscribe to this blog or follow my facebook page.

3 Point Alliance Associate Shared Her Thought about Novel Enthusiasm

Aubrey Baldwin is a 3 Point Alliance associate who likes reading. As an avid reader, she reads many books, especially about history. She will read any books that she thinks they're interesting and enjoyable to read, including novel Enthusiasm. Besides reading, she also likes crocheting and blogging about her paranormal project. She lives in Coatesville with her family, her dog and cat.

Several days ago she shared her thought after she finished reading novel Enthusiasm and below we would like to share it to all readers:

1. What made you interested to read novel Enthusiasm?
I love to read. Fida is my co-associate. One day she mentioned that she wrote a book about her life, so I was definitely on board to read it.

2. What was the best experience when you were reading it?
Knowing the author of the book was bonus.

3. What do you think about the main characters? Which is your favorite character? Why?
The characters were presented very well in the story. My fave was Fida Abbott. I adore her.

4. What impact did you feel after reading this novel?
Our newfound friendship was the biggest impact. I got a new friend and learned more about her.

5. What do you learn from its story?
I learn that everyone has different life experiences in different ways but unique. Things that happen to them. As I was reading this story, I learned more about Fida.

6. What is the best part in its story?
Tough to say, because I enjoyed the entire book.

7. Would you refer this book to others/vivid readers? Why?
I would definitely refer novel Enthusiasm to friends, family, and co-associates.

8. Would you like to read if there is the second book of Enthusiasm saga?
If there is a second book to the original Enthusiasm, I would like to read it. Every life has many chapters, and I enjoy reading her work. I definitely would read it.

PODCAST: Public Speaking by Author Fida Abbott, Rotary Club of Coatesville, PA

Today, May 19, 2016, author Fida Abbott gave public speaking about her book entitled Enthusiasm to the top twenty five students of the 2016 graduating class at Coatesville Area Senior High School (Honor Scholars) in the Rotary Club of Coatesville lunch meeting at Coatesville Country Club (Rotary District 7450).

In her interactive speech, she invited one of the students, named Andrew, to share how enthusiasm played the vital role in pursuing his dream.

In the end of her speech, she shared to the students to do what they love and love what they do. By doing those, will create enthusiasm in reaching their dreams. Having faith is very important, but faith without action is nothing/impossible to reach their dreams. "So have a dream and faith, start an action, be enthusiastic and persistent, and you will reach your dream!" that was her message in the end of her speech.

To listen her whole speech, it will take 23.37 minutes. You may visit its link and leave a comment or just click the arrow button below.

Fida also expressed her gratitude to Mrs. Sandra Simmons, President of the women's League for Minority Education, who had invited her to speak about her book, Enthusiasm, to 25 honor students; and Mr. Grover Koon (Judge Koon), Assistant Governor of Rotary District 7450, who had introduced her to the attendances.

Thank you for listening Fida's podcast.

What I Thought About "Light for the Writer's Soul"?

I got this book as a gift from Yunita Phillips who lives in Ohio. She is one of eighty contributing writers of this book. She is one of the authors who I know well continuously supports me in several ways to keep me motivated in writing. She also used to send me books that can enrich me as an author/a writer through widely information, knowledge, other authors' experiences. I appreciate her efforts, support, and strong friendship built among us. That shows us how the authors should be to support each other.

This afternoon I have finished reading this book. I have found some of their messages inspired, encouraged and gave me strength as a Christian writer to harness my gift and keep writing for His Glory. These are some examples I would like to share with you:

1. You may not know another Christian writer personally who is facing the opposition, discouragement or temptations with which you're grappling. But within these devotions, you'll find shared experiences, encouragement to keep going and words that point you to the Word, the One who has called you to serve. (Marion Stroud, Foreword)

Counting me to this point, I'm one of this writer's category: facing temptations that I was not able to run away from it but had to face it, and of course, it would influence me in my writing process. I felt bad every time knowing my readers could not wait to read my second book of Enthusiasm Saga. Yes, I delayed in several years due of life circumstances I could not avoid. But the good things, through this process, He had sharpened my writing skills in some ways and gave the opportunities to enrich the ideas I would bring to complete that book to satisfy the readers' minds.

2. As our friend and former MAI Board member Julie Ackerman Link reminded us, anyone can put words on a page. Only God can breathe life into them. (John Maust, Introduction)

That's true. I myself have experienced it. My book, Enthusiasm/Antusiasme (in Indonesian version) have become blessing to many readers. I even never thought about it. I just followed my heart to keep writing that book until finished and ready to be published. The rest of it, I saw how God worked beautifully so Enthusiasm arrived in the right hand of one of Indonesian Christian Publishers. Amazingly, it reached the readers with variety of religions. How could that happen? The answer is: Nothing impossible in God's hand.

3. Lord, help me to develop my main characters well. They have important roles in my writing to bring God News into the world. (Yunita Phillips; My Main Character, My Friend)

As I'm a main character in my book, Enthusiasm, He had developed me through His knitting. How I could bring God News if I never experienced it before? Through the pause period, He had worked to develop the main character--me. As my readers can't  wait to read my second book of Enthusiasm Saga, I'm as its author, can't wait either to finish writing this book.

4. As an author, I need to finalize my novel one day and send it for printing. From that moment on, my authority over my protagonists is over. It's the audience's turn and I'll have to answer to their questions. One day it'll be all over. I'll finish the book of my life. What will it be? Will my Heavenly Editor like it? He will, because  we've written together. (Daniel Nalbantski, Heavenly Editor)

This touched my heart: Will my Heavenly Editor like it? He will, because  we've written together.   I ever shared to Yunita about how I was in the processing of writing Enthusiasm. My confession to her: It was like something whip my back every time I put off writing. I even didn't know where the energy came from till I finished that novel for eight months. In two weeks I didn't touch my laptop at all. I was busy again after the copyeditor sent it back to me for review. Three times reading the whole manuscripts with over 250 pages, exhausted my brain, my energy, my eyes, and even I could not compromise again with my butt. But one thing I knew, I loved my copyeditor's review and I knew she liked the story as she could expressed it on the back cover of the book. Yes, I could do it because I had written it with Him. (by Fida Abbott)

Interviewing A Walmart Associate about Enthusiasm

    Van Elaine Deegan

Although Enthusiasm was published five years ago but the spirit of the message of this book is everlasting. Readers from different countries, gender (male and female) and status (student, housewife, employee, businessman, writer, coach, etc.) had enjoyed reading this book, been motivated, inspired and enthusiastic.

Van Elaine Deegan is one of Enthusiasm readers. She is a Walmart Associate in Parksburg, PA and has worked for eight years as a Cashier. She loves reading books and found Enthusiasm at West Chester Public Library, PA in 2013. Let's read a short interview below what she had said about Enthusiasm.

Q: What's the reason you wanted to read novel Enthusiasm?
A: The main reason I wanted to read Enthusiasm was because one of my coworkers recommended it since she saw me like reading a book in the associate room. She handed me a postcard and said, "You should read my book, Enthusiasm." I looked at the postcard and was surprised at that time if she wrote a book. I wanted to be a supported person. When I visited a public library in West Chester, a librarian helped me finding Enthusiasm and I got it.

    http://wcpubliclibrary.org/

    West Chester Public Library
Q: What do you think about novel Enthusiasm that is based on the author's own true story?
A: I thought the author was pretty impressive writing about her story. She is very talented for someone who can read and write two different languages than writing her story like a diary.

Q: What is the best part/your favorite part of the story for you?
A: I liked reading the parts that involved our work place. I always like to know what people think of our store.

Q: What did you feel after reading Enthusiasm?
A: It inspired and motivated me to want to learn a second language, more than I did the first time. It's not as easy as it looks.

Q: What's your message to them who love reading?
A: I think you guys should read this book, Enthusiasm. It might start out slow, but it picks up in the middle.

Q: What do you think if a second book of Enthusiasm Saga will be published?
A: I would definitely get it. I would read it, even if it isn't about Walmart. The author does know what she is writing. I'm impressed that I even know a published author at all. (Sept 20, 2015)
